Considered as a sex icon in the 60’s due to his charismatic character and giving birth to rock in roll. James Douglas Morrison, an American Poet, filmmaker lead singer for The Doors, was influenced by philosophers and poet’s views on aesthetics and morality mainly portrayed in Fredriech Nietzsche’s work. Jim Morrison was born on December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Florida. To his father George Stephen Morrison who was the commander of the United States naval forces, and his mother Clara Clark Morrison. Mr. James Douglas Morrison was an avid reader who had multiple inspirations to his poetry and song writing. But his most inspirational and most beloved poet was the imaginative writer Friedrich Nietzsche, for Morrison he was interested in his life and philosophy. â€Å"Anything that doesn’t kill you makes you stronger†. (Stephan 21).Morrison got that idea from Mr. Nietzsche. Nietzsche was the most influential to Morrison’s writings, intrigued by his absurd and disturbing mythology that for his high school graduation present he asked for the complete works of Nietzsche. â€Å"A testament to his bookishness and rebelliousness†(Jim Morrison). In Morrison’s perspective he saw poetry as an art form; his personal poetry expresses his highly symbolic lifestyle. Integrating his own coeval perspective of culture, society and philosophy of the world into his personal poetical vision.
